Instant coffee is a great option when you suddenly feel like drinking something tasty and you don’t even have a coffee maker. Instead of ground coffee, instant-coffee granules are made from dehydrated ground coffee. Method 1

Make Basic Instant Coffee

1. Heat a cup of water. To heat a cup of water quickly and easily, heat it in the microwave for 1 minute. You can also heat it in a kettle or a pot on the stovetop. Heat it over medium-high heat and take the water off the stove before it starts to boil.

  • To make a cup of coffee, heat a cup of water. If you want to make more, add more water.
  • Using a pot will make it easier to pour hot water into your mug.

2. Pour 1 to 2 teaspoons of instant coffee into a mug. Check the label of the instant-coffee container to see how much coffee you should use for the best flavor. Most companies recommend using 1 to 2 teaspoons of coffee per cup of water.

  • If you want to make strong coffee, use more coffee and if you want to make light coffee, use less coffee.

3. Dissolve the coffee in a tablespoon of cold water. Slowly dissolve the coffee in a little water. The flavor is better if you dissolve the coffee slowly in cold water rather than quickly stirring it in hot water.

4. Pour hot water into the mug. If you are not using a kettle, carefully pour the water into the mug. If you don’t like black coffee, set aside some space in the mug to add milk or creamer.[9]

5. Add sugar or spices, if desired. Add sugar or spices after mixing coffee with hot water for a richer flavor. You can add sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon or all spices to the coffee as per your choice.[10]

A flavored coffee creamer can also be used. Keep in mind that most coffee creamers are actually sweet, so you won’t need to add any extra sugar.

6. Add milk or cream if you don’t like black coffee. Add a spoonful of dairy milk, almond milk, or other non-dairy substitute, cream or flavored creamer to your coffee. The exact amount depends on how light or dark you want your coffee to be.

  • You can enjoy instant black coffee without the addition of milk or creamer.

7. Shake and serve your coffee. Shake the coffee well before enjoying the coffee or serving it to someone. Blend the milk and sugar (if you are using them) together until you get a uniform color.

Method 2

Make Instant Iced Coffee

1. Add 2 tsp instant coffee to 1/2/ cup hot water. Heat the water in the microwave for half to 1 minute. Stir the coffee and hot water until all the coffee granules are dissolved.

Mix the coffee in the glass you want to drink, or mix it in a separate cup. Make sure the cup you are using is microwaveable.

Microwave the water in a measuring cup or other spouted pot if you will be pouring the coffee in a separate cup over ice.

2. Add sugar or spices of your choice to the hot mixture. If you want to use sugar or spices in coffee, add them before adding ice and cold water or milk. The sugar, cinnamon, all the spices and other ingredients will dissolve well in the hot mixture.

You can also add flavored coffee creamer or syrup in place of the sugar and spices.

3. Add cup of cold water or milk to the hot mixture. For creamy iced coffee, use cold milk instead of water. Keep stirring the mixture until everything is well combined and evenly distributed.

4. Pour cold coffee over some ice. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and slowly pour the cold coffee over the ice.

  • If you made coffee in the same glass you want to drink, add ice to it.

5. Serve instant iced coffee immediately. Drink the iced coffee straight from the glass or pour a straw into it. Drink or serve it before the ice melts and the water sits down.

Method 3

Enjoy the Instant Latte

1. Mix a tablespoon of instant-coffee with 1/4 cup of hot water. Heat the water 20 to 30 seconds. Now add instant coffee to it and keep stirring till the coffee granules dissolve completely.

Mix the water and coffee together in the mug you use. The mug should hold at least one cup of ingredients.

2. Add sugar and spices, if desired. If you want the latte to be sweet and flavored, add a teaspoon of sugar, cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice, vanilla extract, or flavored coffee syrup. Add this to the mug and stir until well combined.

3. Stir together cup milk in a sealed jar. Pour milk into a microwave-safe jar with a lid and shake vigorously for 30 to 60 seconds with the lid closed. Doing this will create enough froth in the milk to make a classic latte.

4. Microwave the milk for 30 seconds without covering it. Remove the lid from the jar. The foam will reach the top of the hot milk.

5. Pour the hot milk into the mug. When pouring the hot milk into the coffee base, hold back the froth with a large spoon. Keep stirring the mixture slowly until the color is uniform.

  • If you like dark latte, don’t add whole boiled milk. Add only till you get the color of your choice.

6. Pour milk foam or whipped cream over the latte. Scoop out the milk from the jar with a spoon and pour over the latte, or add a dollop of whipped cream for extra richness.

7. Serve the latte immediately garnished with spices. Lightly dust with milk foam or whipped cream with cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, or other spices of your choice. Drink it immediately or serve it when it is hot and the milk is frothy too.

After opening the container, instant coffee can be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 months. Unopened containers can be stored at room temperature for 1 to 2 years.
